The stratified log-rank test provides a method to control for the association of and can be estimated in SPSS using the Cox Regression (COXREG) method.

Additional Features. The SPSS command language also allows you to specify multiple time-dependent covariates. Other command syntax features are available for Cox Regression with or without time-dependent covariates. Patients were divided into quartiles, and using the first quartile as a reference group I used Cox regression to determine the unadjusted Hazard ratios (HR) and the adjusted HR for quartile 2-4. I am hoping for assistance in regards to examining the contribution.

Stratified Cox regression is a method used when the same baseline hazard function cannot be assumed for a predictor variable but instead the baseline function must be allowed to vary by level of the categorical predictor. In my opinion, SPSS has only two slight advantages and many, many disadvantages. The two advantages are that it is slightly more user friendly in making complex tables and graphs. But thanks to people like Nick Cox, that difference is decreasing daily. Second, SPSS has a nice routine in their logistic regression model for testing interactions.

Cox-proportional hazards regression. CPH regression can be performed using the all-in-one finalfit() function. It produces a table containing counts (proportions) for factors, mean (SD) for continuous variables and a univariable and multivariable CPH regression. A hazard is the term given to the rate at which events happen.

The time frame starts when a patient is delivered to the hospital. A patient stays there normally for several days and either survives or dies. Surviving patients are followed then for several yeas in the post-hospital time. One of my covariates (dichotomous) describes whether the patient had a shock when he was delivered to the hospital. In my opinion, SPSS has only two slight advantages and many, many disadvantages.
